Often people eat Gond Katira directly (without soaking) or use it after soaking it lightly. This is the biggest mistake.

  1. Gond Katira should always be eaten after soaking it in water overnight.

  2. Dry or undercooked (less wet) gond katira swells in the stomach. This may cause stomach cramps, heaviness, indigestion, gas.


What is the correct way?


Take 1–2 spoons of Gond Katira. Soak it in a glass of water overnight (8–10 hours). By morning it will swell and become jelly-like (translucent). Then you can eat it by mixing it in thandai, sherbet, milk, falooda.


How much quantity to take?


1–2 spoons (soaked) daily is enough. Taking excessive amounts may affect digestion.
