Punjab Kings continue their fairytale in IPL 2026, and in Match 24, they crushed Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium to reach the summit of the points table, securing their 4th win of the season. As for MI, they fell to their 4th successive defeat in the tournament and remained rooted at 9th place.
De Kock's Century Powers MI to 195
Put in to bat, Mumbai Indians had a tough start to their innings, but they managed to post a good score of 195/6 in 20 overs. Quinton de Kock led from the front as he scored an incredible unbeaten 112* off 60 deliveries. He smashed eight fours and seven sixes while playing some outrageous shots at the Wankhede.
Even after losing Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav early in the powerplay, Mumbai found stability from Naman Dhir, who slammed 50 off just 31 deliveries, while Hardik Pandya contributed with a useful 14. The rest of the MI batting line-up failed to convert starts and remained largely in the shadow of the opener. For Punjab Kings, Arshdeep Singh was the man with the ball in his hand, bagging three wickets, and so did Marco Jansen and Shashank Singh with one apiece.

Prabhsimran, Iyer Dazzle PBKS to Easy Chase
A daunting 196-run target set by the MI was overhauled effortlessly by Punjab Kings in 16.3 overs with as many as seven wickets to spare. The chase was weaved by a blistering innings from Prabhsimran Singh, who notched a spectacular 80 off just 39 deliveries to compliment his stellar form this season with the help of 11 boundaries and two sixes.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer chipped in with a classy 66 off 35 deliveries while together the duo put together a vital partnership which completely blunted Mumbai Indians' hopes and put the chase under PBKS' firm grip. Earlier with starting knocks from Priyansh Arya (15) and Cooper Connolly (17) were the other significant contributors but could not go a longer way.
Mumbai Indians' bowlers once again failed to make an impact on the match. AM Ghazanfar went on to grab two scalps, while Shardul bagged one. However, experienced bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar went wicketless as they conceded a heap of runs in what was a dominating chase for the Kings.
With the form going at all cylinders and the intent shown to go with the run-rate, Punjab Kings definitely look to be serious title contenders, and the contrary for Mumbai Indians whose campaign seems to be sinking rapidly.
