The evening *Aarti* (ritual worship) of the River Saryu—which has become synonymous with the identity of Ayodhya—will now be witnessed in a new and magnificent form. To further streamline religious traditions, a dress code has been implemented for the priests participating in the *Aarti*. Appearing in garments of different colors on each day of the week, the priests will now lend an even more captivating and disciplined character to the *Aarti*, thereby making the devotees' experience more special than ever before.
The evening *Aarti* of the River Saryu—which serves as the spiritual hallmark of Ayodhya—will now manifest in a renewed avatar. To bring greater order to ancient and religious traditions, a dress code has been introduced for the Saryu *Aarti*. Henceforth, all priests participating in the *Aarti* will be seen wearing garments of a designated color, enhancing the collective visual splendor of the ritual and lending it a more disciplined appearance.
At the Saryu *Aarti* site, priests perform daily worship and *Aarti* for Mother Saryu across seven distinct altars. Until now, priests would dress according to their own personal preferences; however, under the new system, specific garment colors have been prescribed for each of the seven days of the week.
The objective of this change is to instill uniformity—coupled with traditional discipline—into the *Aarti*, ensuring that devotees experience not only a spiritual atmosphere but also visual aesthetic beauty. Anjaneya, the administrator of the Saryu *Aarti* site, noted that thousands of devotees arrive daily to participate in the *Aarti* of Mother Saryu.
He explained that, much like the practice in Ayodhya's various monasteries and temples—where the color of the deities' garments is changed daily according to the specific day of the week—this very tradition has now been adopted for the Saryu *Aarti*. In keeping with this custom, the color of the priests' attire has been designated based on the day of the week.
According to the new protocol, priests will wear white garments on Mondays and Fridays. Red-colored attire will be worn on Tuesdays and Sundays, while yellow garments have been designated for Wednesdays and Thursdays. A specific color will also be designated for Saturdays, ensuring that the *Aarti* on each day of the week radiates a distinct spiritual aura.
This new initiative is set to make the spectacle of the Saryu *Aarti* even more magnificent. The presence of priests dressed in uniform colors will undoubtedly become a focal point of special attraction for the devotees. This harmonious blend of religious discipline and tradition is expected to imbue the evening Aarti in Ayodhya with a renewed sense of beauty and dignity.
