New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli’s wife Andrea Hewitt has quashed all the recent rumours regarding his health, saying that he is doing perfectly fine. In the last few days, news spread in the social media like wild fire that Kambli was not doing well but Hewitt has termed all the reports as mere misinformation.

Though the former Indian batter has not been in the best of the shape but recently, he is doing fine. In an interaction with India Today,  she said that ‘By God’s grace, Vinod is fine. I don’t know who is spreading false information about his health’.

Who spread the false news?

At the first instance, it was none other than Kambli’s friend and a former first-class umpire, Marcus Couto, who claimed that the former cricketer is undergoing a serious health crisis.

Cuto had told The Times of India that ever since he has been discharged from the hospital, he has had a clot in his brain and his memory is not good.

‘Ever since he was hospitalised in Thane about 18 months ago, Kambli has had a clot in his brain. His memory is not good. He remembers things and then forgets about them. That’s all due to that clot in his brain,’ Couto said.

He further said that though Kambli has given up drinking but he smokes at times and because smoking is forbidden for him, it puts him at the risk of a brain stroke. It was also reported that a WhatsApp group, led by Couto, served as the platform to bring the former cricketer’s well-wishers together and raise funds for his care. Sachin Tendulkar, Kambli’s childhood friend, was also part of the group.

Earlier after he was discharged from the hospital, it was reported that the members of the cricketing fraternity have pitched in to help the former cricketer not only emotionally, but financially as well.
