New Delhi: With just a single point in their kitty and no win till now, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have not had the best of the starts in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The three-time winners did not perform that bad in the 6 matches they have played but the Ajinkya Rahane-led side is yet to find their winning formula in the cash-rich league.
Though the Knight Riders skipper is shattered after the side’s fifth loss this season but he prefers to focus on the positives like all-rounder Cameron Green’s return to form. The one point they earned was from the rain-abandoned game against the Punjab Kings and languishing at the bottom of the table does not deter the spirit of the skipper.
At the post-match presentation, Rahane said that it is never easy to speak after a loss but embracing tough days is equally important.
‘It’s never easy to come out and talk immediately after losing a game. But I’d like to focus on the positives. The way we started, losing three wickets early, it was tough,’ said Rahane after the five-wicket loss.
With Green finally finding his rhythm with a 79 off 55 balls after a string of underwhelming scores, it did put Gujarat Titans under pressure in the middle overs.
‘Cameron Green’s innings was outstanding, he was under pressure, but the way he counterattacked and took on their bowlers was amazing to see. At 147 for 4, getting to around 180 was slightly difficult for us as a batting unit,’ he added.
Batting first, KKR put up a competitive total of 180 runs on the board with Green playing a blistering knock while the Titans chased the score in 19.4 overs with 5 wickets to spare. Skipper Shubman Gill was a standout performer for the Titans as the side bagged their third win and climbed to the fourth spot in the table.
