Choose the right soil and pot

Tea plant requires light, friable and well-drained soil for good growth. While growing it from seeds or cuttings, use some coco peat, compost and garden soil mixed in the soil. The tea plant can become weak in the hot afternoon sun, so keep it in a place that gets morning sun and light shade during the day. Always keep the soil slightly moist, but do not overwater. Give light water daily in summer and water as per need in winter.

Create Humidity Zone near the tea leaves

Tea plant likes light moisture and humid environment. For this, keep pebbles tray under the pot. Place small stones in a tray, fill it with some water and place a pot on top (the pot should not be submerged in water). This will keep the surrounding air moist and the leaves will not dry quickly. Regular pruning and leaf plucking

For good growth of the tea plant, do light pruning of the upper new leaves from time to time. Due to this, the plant becomes more dense and new soft leaves emerge quickly. To make tea, always pluck only the top 2–3 young tender leaves. These leaves are the best in taste and aroma. Mulch with dry tea leaves

This is a slightly different but very effective method. Spread a thin layer of pine needles, dry leaves or used tea leaves without milk and sugar on the soil of the plant. Due to this the soil remains cool and moist and the soil remains slightly acidic. Tea plant grows very well in acidic soil.
