Pradhan Mantri Vikas Bharat Rojgar Yojana
About 4.4 lakh new employees starting jobs in August 2025 have got the benefit of the government's employment enhancing scheme Pradhan Mantri Vikas Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PMVBRY). These are those people who started a job for the first time and continued working for at least 6 months.
The government has released an amount of about ₹ 465 crore as incentive under this scheme. This money was received by about 4.41 lakh employees and 18,000 companies, who maintained employment for 6 continuous months.
The objective of this scheme is to create more and more formal jobs in the country. The government aims to create 3.5 crore new jobs between August 2025 and July 2027, in which about 1.92 crore people will be employed for the first time.
However, due to the ongoing tension in West Asia, the pace of job growth is expected to be affected. Many companies are currently stopping new recruitment, which may put pressure on the government's target.
Under this scheme, in Part-A, the government gives one month's salary (up to ₹ 15,000) under EPF to new employees in two installments. One after 6 months and the other after 12 months. This benefit is available to those people whose salary is up to ₹ 1 lakh.
In Part-B, the government also provides incentives to companies. If a company hires new employees and keeps them employed for at least 6 months, it gets assistance of up to ₹ 3,000 per month per employee, which is given for 2 years. In the manufacturing sector, this benefit can be available for 4 years.
To avail the benefits of this scheme, it is necessary for the company to be registered with the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). Also, small companies will have to add at least 2 new employees and large companies will have to add at least 5 new employees. Overall, this scheme is being considered a big step to increase employment and encourage companies for new recruitment.
