After a prolonged wait, rumors, and protests, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) is now poised to release the notification for the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE 4.0) very soon. According to the latest information, this notification is expected to be issued by April 19, 2026. This news has instilled hope in candidates who had been waiting for months for clear information and remained in a state of uncertainty despite their ongoing preparations.

This recruitment drive is being hailed as one of the largest teacher recruitment initiatives in Bihar’s history. A key highlight is that the number of vacancies has been significantly increased compared to previous estimates. Preparations are underway to appoint a total of 46,882 teachers across primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools. Initially, it was estimated that this figure would hover around 26,000 to 27,000; however, following the receipt of fresh data from the districts, there has been a substantial upward revision in the number of vacancies. This sends a clear signal that the government is serious about filling the long-standing vacancies in schools.

There was considerable resentment among candidates due to the delay in the release of the notification. Following the initial announcement in September 2025, it was expected that the recruitment process would commence promptly; however, no clear updates were provided for several months. The process of determining district-wise vacancy counts and finalizing the data at the administrative level proved to be time-consuming. Consequently, confusion persisted regarding both the examination dates and the exact number of vacancies available.

Protests Ensued

The impact of this delay was also visible on the streets. In several cities, including Patna, candidates staged protests and raised demands for greater transparency. The emergence of conflicting figures further exacerbated the confusion among the aspirants. Furthermore, allegations of a paper leak during the previous TRE 3.0 examination had already heightened students’ anxieties, making candidates even more vigilant and earnest regarding TRE 4.0.

When Will the Notification Be Released?

The notification is expected to be released by April 19. Subsequently, the online application process is expected to commence on April 25, 2026. Interested candidates will be able to apply by visiting the official BPSC website. To apply, candidates must first register, then fill out the application form, upload the necessary documents, and pay the requisite fee. Finally, they must submit the form and download a copy for their records.

When Will the Exam Be Held?

The date for the examination is also considered to be tentatively finalized. According to available information, the TRE 4.0 examination is likely to be conducted between September 22 and September 27, 2026. The examination is expected to be held in offline mode. Given the large number of vacancies, it is certain that the competition will be intense; therefore, candidates should accelerate their preparations starting immediately.
