
New Delhi, 19 April. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday approved two mega multi-tracking projects of the Railways worth Rs 24,815 crore for Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
Plan of third and fourth line between Ghaziabad-Sitapur approved
Under these projects, the railway network will be expanded in 15 districts of both the states, which will increase the network of Indian Railways by about 601 kilometers. This includes the third and fourth lines (403 km) between Ghaziabad–Sitapur and the third and fourth lines (198 km) between Rajahmundry (Nidadavolu)–Vishakhapatnam (Duvvada).

The government says that these projects will make access to many major religious and tourist places of the country easier. These include places like Dudheshwarnath Temple, Garhmukteshwar Ganga Ghat, Dargah of Amroha, Shah Vilayat Jama Masjid, Naimisharanya (Sitapur), Annavaram, Antarvedi and Draksharamam. These railway routes are extremely important for transportation of essential commodities like coal, grains, cement, petroleum products (POL), iron-steel, containers, fertilizers, sugar, chemicals and limestone.
On Ghaziabad-Sitapur route 14,926 investment of crore rupees
The Ghaziabad-Sitapur route is already double line and is an important part of the Delhi-Guwahati high density network. An investment of Rs 14,926 crore will be made on this route, which will further strengthen the connectivity between North and Eastern India.
6 new stations will also be built to reduce congestion.
The project will pass through major industrial centers like Ghaziabad (machinery, electronics, pharma), Moradabad (brass and handicrafts), Bareilly (furniture, textile), Shahjahanpur (carpet and cement) and Rojava (thermal power plants). To reduce congestion, stations like Hapur, Simbhaoli, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur and Sitapur will be bypassed in this project. Six new stations will also be built for this.
On extension of Rajahmundry-Visakhapatnam route 9,889 crores will be spent
At the same time, Rajahmundry-Vishakhapatnam route is part of Howrah-Chennai high density network. Rs 9,889 crore will be spent on it and it is a busy freight route on the East Coast Rail Corridor. The project will pass through East Godavari, Konaseema, Kakinada, Anakapalle and Visakhapatnam districts of Andhra Pradesh. Also, it will further ease access to tourist places like Annavaram, Antarvedi and Draksharamam. The government believes that these railway projects will not only improve freight traffic and connectivity, but will also give a big boost to tourism and regional development.
