13,000 crore ‘Sovereign Maritime Fund’


With a view to strengthening India’s maritime sector, the Cabinet has given the green light to set up a Rs 13,000 crore ‘Sovereign Maritime Fund’. The fund will provide stable and affordable insurance coverage to Indian flagged ships, as well as ships to and from India. This initiative will enhance India’s security and self-reliance in the global maritime trade arena.


Additional provision of Rs 3,000 crore for rural roads


To boost infrastructure development, the government has also approved extension of ‘Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana’ (PMGSY). This scheme will now continue till 2028. For the successful implementation of this scheme, the government has made an additional provision of Rs 3,000 crore; This will further improve the communication facility in the remote villages.
