New Delhi: An Instagram post by a woman named Anushka is going viral for all the wrong reasons. She shared her experience regarding booking a Rapido ride and what happened after that on her Instagram handle. The woman said that the Rapido driver contacted her after the ride ended and sent some inappropriate messages.

Anushka alleged that the Rapido driver contacted her through WhatsApp after completing the ride. He reportedly sent some inappropriate messages to the woman. She described the messages as “strange”, reported NDTV.

The woman shared screenshots of the conversation on Instagram. The Rapido reportedly asked her personal questions and even complemented her for the dress she was wearing. The man also reportedly invited her for a meeting the next day, showed the screenshots shared by the woman.

Several people took to the comments section of Instagram to express concerns regarding the incident. They questioned how the Rapido Rider got the mobile number of the woman and called out the breach of privacy on part of the company. They raised the dangers that this incident highlighted for people who regularly use online ride hailing platforms, like Rapido, Ola, Uber and others.

Rapido responds to the incident

The company, Rapido, also responded to the incident. They took to the comments sections of the woman’s Instagram post and expressed regret for what she had to go through. They added that such behaviour was not acceptable.

Rapido said that it apologises for its rider’s behaviour and said that it violated the service standards of the company. They further asked the woman to share her mobile number and ride ID with them via direct message so that the matter could be properly investigated and the errant driver be punished.
