New Delhi. The earthquake of 7.4 magnitude that occurred in Japan on Monday spread panic among the people. A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck northern Japan, prompting a tsunami warning for coastal areas, according to national broadcaster NHK. The administration has especially asked people living in the coastal areas of Iwate Prefecture and Hokkaido to immediately move to safe places or higher areas. According to officials, waves up to 3 meters high can arise in the sea, which can cause damage after reaching the coast.

The Japanese government has warned that tsunami waves may come not once, but several times. Therefore, people should remain in safe places until all the warnings are over.
