The best holiday has been revealed after 1,000 travellers were asked about their favourite destination they've been to in the last 10 years. Which? conducted the survey questioning its members about their voyages, and it found that 37% of the people who had visited the top country picked it as their favourite trip.
Unlike France and Spain, which are two of the most visited countries in the world, welcoming tens of millions of visitors every year and only a few hours away from the UK, the winning holiday destination is slightly further away, but apparently very much worth it.
Japan, known for its stunning landscapes, impeccable cuisine, and ancient traditions, yet futuristic innovation, took the top spot as the best holiday destination. Out of the 1,000 Which? members asked: 51 had visited the country in East Asia, with 37% stating it was the best holiday of the past 10 years.
Last year, Japan set a record with 42.7 million international tourists, an increase of nearly 6 million from 2024.
Its famed capital, Tokyo, along with the timeless city of Kyoto, were also among the top five best world cities for a holiday, highlighting the country's increasing popularity amongst tourists across the globe.
Canada followed Japan, with 31% of its 115 visitors naming it their best holiday of the past 10 years. New Zealand, Vietnam, and Australia completed the top five destinations.
Despite the UK having the most overall visitors in the ranking, only 17% of people said it was their favourite over the past 10 years. However, it did rank above Spain and France, which are renowned in the tourism industry for their popularity among travellers.
Hungary came last, with only 1% of its visitors rating it the best, while Egypt followed with 2% of the 52 visitors naming it their best.
