Hundreds of workers of Synkam Formulation, a pharmaceutical manufacturing company located in Sector 1 of Pithampur industrial area of ​​Dhar district, have sat on strike outside the company with their various demands. In fact, the workers are protesting accusing the management of not paying minimum wages, not depositing provident fund (PF) and exploitation of women workers.

The workers allege that the company is paying them very low wages contrary to the rules of the Madhya Pradesh government. They are charged full duty of eight hours, but are being paid only Rs 210 in return. Workers have called it a flagrant violation of labor laws. The same labor officer said that if we get less than the minimum wage, we will definitely take legal action.

Women workers expressed their pain to the media

Female worker Pinky told the media that she gets Rs 225 per day. For overtime, you get Rs 50 for two hours. Nothing like CL etc is available. Another female laborer, Anjali, said that if they get late from home, they are not even allowed to have breakfast, and when they come to drink water at 10 o’clock, they are not even allowed to drink water. Even after 10-5 minutes, they tell you to leave. Even during lunch, we leave it in fixed form and then send it quickly. Our payment is very low and should be increased.

Labor officer gave advice to the workers

Pithampur labor officer Dashrath Sungdhi, who reached the factory on receiving information about the workers’ strike, told the media that he had received information that the workers coming for the first shift put forward this point to the management that they should get the government facilities like minimum wage, PF, IC as per the rules. That’s why they all sat down. We came and tried to find a solution. Some workers told in the discussion that all these are the workers of the contractor and not the workers of the company manager. In this situation, we will also collect such information from the management that it is the responsibility of the contractor under the Labor Act to pay them the minimum wage and to ensure that payment legally. If you get less than the minimum wage, we will definitely take legal action.
