Lucknow, 21 April. Rampur Court gave its decision on the appeals of former cabinet minister Azam Khan and his son former MLA Abdullah Azam. The MP-MLA Sessions Court rejected the appeals filed against the conviction of both Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam. The sentence of both of them has been maintained for 7 years each. According to the information received, ADGC Seema Rana said that the sentence of Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam, convicted in two PAN card cases, has been upheld.
Their appeals against the sentence were rejected by the MP-MLA Sessions Court. In this case, earlier the Magistrate Court had sentenced both of them to 7 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 each. The defense had appealed against this decision, while the prosecution had filed a petition seeking an increase in the sentence.
After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the Sessions Court gave its verdict and did not give any relief in the sentence. After this decision of the court, the sentence of Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam will remain intact. In this case, former minister Kazim Ali Khan alias Naved Mian had filed a revision on behalf of the state to increase the punishment, which was rejected by the Sessions Court, but the High Court has instructed the Sessions Court to hear his side during the hearing.
It is noteworthy that Rampur city BJP MLA Akash Saxena had lodged a complaint at Civil Lines police station on July 30, 2019. It was said that Abdullah Azam got two PAN cards made in violation of the rules. When Azam Khan’s role in the case came to light during the investigation, he was also made an accused, after which a case was registered against both of them.
According to the complainant, Abdullah Azam had made two PAN cards with different dates of birth using fake documents. In the first of these, the date of birth is recorded as January 1, 1993 and in the second, as September 30, 1990. After a long hearing, the MP-MLA court of Rampur sentenced both of them on 17 November 2025. The court sentenced both of them to 7 years imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each. Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam are lodged in Rampur jail due to their punishment.
