Mumbai: In a first for Bollywood, Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ is set to take a unique leap, with the story of the film’s making being planned for a theatrical release.
Following the success of the spy-thriller franchise, reports suggest that a full-length behind-the-scenes feature will offer audiences an in-depth look at the film’s scale, production and performances on the big screen.
“The craze for Dhurandhar is so much that the makers have decided to turn even the making of the film into a spectacle. All the BTS footages and cast interviews together will be collated into a full-length feature film and will be unveiled as a theatrical release in the last quarter of 2026, and then eventually make it to the OTT platform as well on which the films will be streaming,” an insider was quoted as saying by HT.
The source explained why the film’s lead cast has not been participating in any media interaction so far.
“All the major players in the film including actors Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, and even the director Aditya Dhar, are not doing any media interaction yet because their first interviews will be a part of this BTS film that will directly arrive in theatres. It is a first for any Indian film, and the makers are ensuring that no BTS footage goes out on social media before the release of the film,” the source added.
Filmmaker Aditya has been regularly thanking his crew on social media, but has so far shared only photos, but no videos.
This sparked speculation that the video footage is being saved for the planned theatrical release of the film’s making.
‘Dhurandhar’, featuring Ranveer, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan and Danish Pandor, has reportedly earned over Rs 800 crore at the domestic box office.
Its sequel, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, did even better and became the first Indian film to cross Rs 1000 crore in India alone.
