Priyadarshan is now set to direct another comedy film. With Bhooth Bangla currently running in theatres and Haiwaan nearly complete, the veteran filmmaker is already setting his sights on his next project. According to a report by Variety India, Priyadarshan’s new movie will bring together Pankaj Tripathi, Annu Kapoor, and Saurabh Shukla in a comedy-drama centred around three elderly men navigating unexpected and entertaining circumstances in their lives. This one sounds like it has all the ingredients of an unexpected comedy chaos.

The Priyadarshan reunion with Pankaj Tripathi is particularly significant as the two have not worked together in 16 years. The filmmaker’s last collaboration with Saurabh Shukla goes back even further, to the 2001 comedy drama Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar. As for Annu Kapoor, his last project with Priyadarshan was Gardish, which was released three decades ago. The Pankaj Tripathi, Annu Kapoor, and Saurabh Shukla new film is therefore shaping up to be a reunion of sorts for the director and three of Hindi cinema’s most respected and versatile character actors.

The film is being made in the spirit of Hungama and The Shaukeens, which gives a fairly clear sense of the tone and the kind of entertainment the makers are aiming for.

Rajpal Yadav is also reportedly set to appear in a pivotal role, adding yet another familiar name to the mix. Rajpal Yadav himself had hinted at more collaborations with Priyadarshan in a conversation with News18 earlier. He expressed confidence that several interesting roles with the filmmaker were still lined up for him.

Priyadarshan’s upcoming projects in 2026 also include a film with Mohanlal for his 100th movie, which will release after this comedy-drama. On the current front, Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla is running successfully in theatres, marking his reunion with Akshay Kumar after 15 years. The horror comedy received a mixed critical response. While the jump scares worked in places, the second half felt overly elaborate, and the comedy leaned towards the first half only. Despite that, the film has been drawing audiences and is performing well at the box office.
