Samay Raina's Remarkable Return to Comedy

After a hiatus of over a year due to the controversy surrounding India's Got Latent, comedian Samay Raina has made a triumphant return to the spotlight. His latest stand-up special, titled Still Alive, has achieved a significant milestone, garnering over 53.4 million views on YouTube.

This special has set a new record as the most-viewed full-length stand-up comedy performance globally from a single upload, according to reports.

With this accomplishment, Raina has become the first comedian to achieve the highest viewership for a stand-up special on a single video platform.

Still Alive is Raina's inaugural official stand-up special, running for 1 hour and 21 minutes. In this performance, he openly discusses the controversy surrounding India's Got Latent, his year-long absence from the public eye, personal challenges, experiences with childhood bullying, his Kashmiri Pandit heritage, mental health issues, and the encouragement he received from fans and friends.

For context, the 'India's Got Latent' controversy erupted in February of the previous year when panellists Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, and Apoorva Mukhija made remarks that sparked significant backlash. This led to FIRs being filed against Raina and others involved.

In the aftermath, Raina took down the show from YouTube, while Allahbadia later apologized publicly. Despite these challenges, Raina has hinted at the possibility of a second season of India's Got Latent being in development.
