Steve Smith maintained his outstanding performance in the PSL 2026 by scoring a wonderful century against Hyderabad Kingsmen. In the 33rd match Smith opened the innings for his team and he established his dominance over the match by not letting the bowlers gain any control.
Smith achieved his first league century by scoring 100 runs from 47 balls. He played with confidence and attacked almost every bowler. The biggest moment of the match occurred when he hit 28 runs in one over against Hunain Shah. The over forced the Kingsmen to lose their advantage and gave Multan complete control of the game.
He made 106 runs from 50 balls at a strike rate that exceeded 200. His innings helped Multan Sultans build a strong total which made it difficult for the opposing team to recover.

Strong partnership sets the base
Sahibzada Farhan provided Smith with excellent support. The two batters added 132 runs for their partnership which came in just 75 balls. This stand helped Multan create a large score.
Both players attacked from the start and did not allow the bowlers to settle into a rhythm. The fielding team struggled to stop the flow of runs because the batsmen kept finding boundaries.
The middle order batsmen failed to score many runs but their strong start helped the team reach a big total. The match had already left Hyderabad Kingsmen behind when Smith got out.

Smith falls after memorable knock
Smith finished his innings during the 17th over of the match. Hassan Khan bowled a full delivery outside off stump. Smith attempted to hit the ball towards long-off but he could not connect properly.
Marnus Labuschagne caught the ball which flew directly to him. Smith walked back after scoring a brilliant 106 runs. His wicket brought some relief to the Kingsmen but his earlier performances had already dealt them severe damage.
Records fall during Smith’s innings
The match outcome depended on this century which also served as a milestone in Smith's career. The score now stands as his third-highest T20 cricket performance. His top two scores are 125 and 121 both for the Sydney Sixers.
His 47-ball hundred is also one of the fastest for Multan Sultans in the league. The innings became a significant achievement for the team because it produced one of the fastest centuries in their history.
Smith has been in good form throughout the season. He has scored three half centuries in addition to his century while also making valuable contributions of 31 and 46 runs in other games.
Hyderabad bowlers struggle badly
The bowlers of Hyderabad Kingsmen had a tough day on the field. Smith and Farhan began their attacks against them which resulted in almost every bowler losing runs.
Players like Glenn Maxwell Saim Ayub and Akif Javed failed to maintain control over the scoring. Labuschagne who also bowled gave away 15 runs in just one over.
The team failed to find a solution to break the partnership because they started their defense too late. The total score had already reached a strong level when they succeeded in getting wickets.
