People up and down England are preparing for St George's Day 2026 celebrations as the Government issues a major update over making the occasion a Bank Holiday. The Government told the Daily Express this week that there are no plans to make the occasion a Bank Holiday despite calls to do so in recent years.

They said: "While we are proud to celebrate all of our patron saints, the current pattern of bank and public holidays is well established, and we have no plans to change it." This comes as Brits are urged to be wary of rules around flying England flags. Incorrectly flying the flag could result in fines of up to £2,500. There are some rules governing the flying of England St George's Cross flags, but it depends on where you fly it from and where you live.
