The 33rd match of IPL 2026 was very special for Sanju Samson. On 23 April, there was a match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In this match, Sanju scored a century against Mumbai and remained unbeaten till the end. Thanks to his brilliant innings, he equaled Rohit Sharma in a special record. However, Virat Kohli’s name still remains at the top in this record.
This century of Sanju Samson in the 33rd match of IPL 2026 was very special. On one side wickets were falling continuously but on the other side Samson stood firmly at the crease. In his innings, he scored unbeaten 101 runs in just 54 balls at a strike rate of 187.03. During this period, 10 fours and 6 sixes came from his bat. On the basis of his brilliant innings, CSK set a big target of 208 runs in front of Mumbai.
This century is Sanju Samson’s second century of this season. Earlier, he had scored unbeaten 115 runs against Delhi Capitals on 11 April. This century is Samson’s fifth IPL century and his second century in the Chennai Super Kings jersey. Samson is the second batsman after Shane Watson in 2018 to score two centuries in the same season for CSK.
