New Delhi: Yezdi and BSA partner together for the first time to introduce two distinct Scramblers for India, targeting the modern rider who wants versatility across city commutes, weekend trails and highway cruising. BSA have been teasing the upcoming Scrambler 650 for a while in India and was first introduced worldwide last year.

With both brands rooted in Scrambler heritage, this dual launch targets to strengthen the segment at two ends of the premium motorcycle world. Both the bikes have been given much-needed refreshment.

The Yezdi Scrambler 350 comes as the lightest motorcycle in its segment, built for agility and everyday usability. At the heart of the motorcycle is a newly developed liquid-cooled 334 cc engine, called ‘Katar’, which delivers a strong torque-to-weight ratio and sharp off-the-line performance. The engine now makes 30 bhp and 30 Nm of torque.

The riding character remains true to Yezdi’s DNA, coming with responsive, nimble and eager performance, making it quite good for urban environments as well as quick getaways. It gets 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels. The Scrambler is now 8 kg lighter, currently sitting at 174 kg. Part of this weight reduction is likely due to a single-exhaust setup instead of its predecessor’s twin exhausts.

While Scrambler comes with the same silhouette, it comes with new tank graphics, a ‘69’-numbered side panel and a revised seat, and that puts the seat height at 813 mm. Prices for the Yezdi Scrambler 350 start at Rs 1,99,950 (introductory).

BSA Scrambler 650

The BSA Scrambler 650 brings a more classic, big-bike appeal, powered by the segment’s 652cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, like the Goldstar 650. The unit makes 45hp at 6,500rpm and 55 Nm at 4,000rpm and is mated with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike comes with several design updates, which include a high-mounted front fender, fork gaiters, side panels with ‘65’ graphics and a revised taillight.

It also gets an LED headlight with an optional grille and a round LCD instrument cluster. One big mechanical change is the move to a 19-inch front wheel (Gold Star rides on 18 inches), while the back still gets a 17-incher. The wheels are shod with CEAT Crossrad tyres, which the UK ones use Pirelli rubber.

The suspension is handled by a telescopic fork with 138mm of travel up front and twin shock absorbers at the back offering 127mm of travel. The seat height is at 820mm, ground clearance at 187mm, with a dry weight of 208kg. The BSA Scrambler 650 is priced from Rs 3,24,950 (introductory).
