New Delhi: Delhi Capitals equaled an incredible toss record even before the first ball was bowled during their Indian Premier League 2026 clash against Punjab Kings in Delhi on Saturday. Capitals skipper Axar Patel won the toss which marked the ninth consecutive toss the team has won in the cash-rich league.
By virtue of this, the Capitals equaled the record for the most consecutive toss wins, matching the record achieved by two other teams. In the history of the Indian Premier League, Sunrisers Hyderabad (2015-16) and Chennai Super Kings (2019) are the only other teams to have won nine consecutive tosses in the competition. Previously, CSK (2018-19) and Rajasthan Royals (2023) held streaks of eight.

Meanwhile, both Punjab and Delhi placed on 1st and 6th position respectively, decided to play an unchanged XI in the game.

Punjab have been classical this season and are the only team which is unbeaten till now with 11 points. Out of total 6 games, Punjab have bagged victories in 5 matches while one match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was washed out due to rain which gave them a single point.
In a total of 6 matches, Delhi have bagged victories in 3 while lost as many. The home side would be aiming to take the advantage of their den and climb up the ladder with a victory in this game. The middle stage of the cash-rich league are really important for all the teams to gain points.
