A spectacular batting performance by Delhi Capitals against Punjab Kings in the 35th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 took place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Courtesy of an exceptional knock by KL Rahul, DC registered a humongous total of 264/2 in 20 overs.

A sublime knock by KL Rahul (152* off 67 balls) supported by 16 boundaries and 9 sixes along with a massive strike rate of 226.87 at the top, found adequate support from Nitish Rana (91 off 44 balls) by way of 11 boundaries and 4 sixes. This massive partnership between them took the game away from Punjab's hands.

In the initial part of the innings, Pathum Nissanka started with a quick 11 off 7 deliveries and fell off Arshdeep Singh. After which the duo of KL Rahul and Nitish Rana continued to dominate and smashed the bowling. David Miller remained unbeaten on 3 off 3 towards the end.

The Punjab Kings bowlers found the game very tough and could hardly restrict the flow of runs with Xavier Bartlett and Arshdeep Singh picking up the only wickets. The team from Delhi were at a run rate of 13.2 as they managed 68 runs within the power play.

After this amazing inning, KL Rahul went past both Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni in the list of most runs in IPL history.

Rahul's consistency is perhaps one of his biggest pluses in IPL. Rahul is currently second among those batters who have played 1000 or more innings with an average of 46.88 runs as only Sai Sudharsan is placed higher than him with an average of 47.16.

The innings not only ensured one of the highest IPL scores for Delhi Capitals but it also defined what a good top-order player would be at this level as the knock also displayed his class and caliber. Control at the top and accelerating at the right time.

This knocks just justifies that he is one of the most dependable and reliable batters and is up to his old tricks of destroying opposition in this competition. Now the Delhi Capitals will be eager to maintain the momentum with which they have reached here.
