Will audiences be celebrating Diwali with Karan Johar? The director of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has announced that his popular talk show is set to return in October 2026, coinciding with the festive season. Since its launch in 2004, the show has evolved significantly, transitioning from television to streaming platforms and featuring a diverse array of guests, including Bollywood and Hollywood celebrities, business moguls, and sports figures throughout its 18-year history. As the show gears up for its comeback, fans are eager to see how Karan will elevate the experience.
In addition to Koffee with Karan, Karan also hosts the Indian version of The Traitors, which is slated for a second season.
During a recent interview with The Week, a fan inquired about the return of the JioHotstar series. Karan responded with a smile, indicating that the show would be back by Diwali for its ninth season. The previous season aired from October 2023 to January 2024, featuring notable guests such as Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, who appeared in the premiere episode, along with Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, Sunny and Bobby Deol, and cousins Rani Mukerji and Kajol. Other prominent personalities who graced the show included Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Panday, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Rohit Shetty, Neetu Singh, and Zeenat Aman.
A recent article in Mid-Day revealed that the upcoming season will introduce several changes, including a broader guest list featuring more stars from the South Indian film industry, streaming actors, and content creators. Previous seasons have seen appearances from Prabhas, SS Rajamouli, and Rana Daggubati, while Vijay Deverakonda made his debut alongside Ananya Panday in Season 7. The report also mentioned that certain segments of the show would be refined to better resonate with viewers.
Produced by Dharmatic, the initial six seasons of Koffee with Karan aired on Star World from 2004 until 2019. In 2022, the show transitioned to streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The inaugural episode featured Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as guests on November 19, 2004.
While Kajol made an appearance in the last season, Shah Rukh Khan has been notably absent from the show for the past few seasons. The eighth season concluded with Karan presenting the Koffee Awards alongside comedians and influencers such as Tanmay Bhat, Danish Sait, Kusha Kapila, Sumukhi Suresh, and Orhan Awatramani.
