In a video message, Luxon said the deal would enhance opportunities for New Zealand exporters, particularly manufacturers of marine jet systems used in boats and exported globally to over 70 countries..
He added that the agreement would reduce trade barriers and boost commercial engagement between the two countries.
He also pointed out that several exporters currently face tariffs when accessing the Indian market, adding that the FTA would gradually lower these duties, improving competitiveness and increasing trade flows.
According to Luxon, the agreement is expected to generate more business activity, employment opportunities, and support economic growth in New Zealand, while also deepening trade ties with India.
He added that the agreement would bring ‘more jobs, higher wages and more opportunities,’ highlighting the broader economic impact of the deal.
Once finalized, the FTA is set to expand trade and investment opportunities for both countries, enhancing their presence in an increasingly competitive global market.
