New Delhi:Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) got off to a horrific start after being asked to bat first in the IPL 2026 clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Sunday, April 26.
Mohsin Khan provided LSG with their first breakthrough and removed Tim Seifert for a duck in the second over. He then dismissed captain Ajinkya Rahane for 10 runs in the fourth over of the innings. But the controversy erupted in the fifth over when Angkrish Raghuvanshi got out on the last delivery.
Raghuvanshi looked in good form before he was given out, a decision that did not go down well with the KKR camp. He played a good length delivery towards mid-on for a single, but Cameron Green sent him back.
The throw came in at the batterβs end, who got back in with a dive. It also hit Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and LSG pacer Mohammed Shami appealed for an obstructing the field dismissal. The on-field umpire referred it to the third umpire, who looked at the replays and reckoned that the batter had changed his direction. He ruled Raghuvanshi out for obstructing the field.
The young KKR batter was clearly unhappy with the decision and slammed his bat on the ground as he walked back to the dugout. The KKR camp also looked surprised with the decision, and head coach Abhishek Nayar also had an animated chat with the fourth umpire after the dismissal. Raghuvanshi became the fourth batter in IPL history to get out for obstructing the field.
