Riyadh, April 27. India’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Suhail Khan visited Mecca on Sunday and took stock of the arrangements made for Indian Haj pilgrims. He also welcomed the first batch of Indian pilgrims who reached Mecca by train from Medina. During this time, India’s Consul General Fahad Suri and Consul Haj Sadaf Chaudhary were also present in Jeddah, this information was given by the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia on the social media ‘X’ account.


The embassy said that this year a large number of Indian travelers will use the Harman high-speed railway to travel between Mecca and Medina. Apart from this, it will also be used for travel between Jeddah and Mecca. With this, the journey of passengers will become much faster, safer and comfortable. On April 18, the first batch of Haj 2026 pilgrims left for Mecca, Saudi Arabia from Delhi Airport. At that time, Delhi Haj Committee Chairperson Kausar Jahan was present at the airport.


Many facilities have been started for Haj. These include enhancing digital services through ‘Haj Suvidha App’ and ‘Haj Suvidha Smart Band’, which will make it easier to locate and assist pilgrims. This time a shorter Haj option of about 20 days has also been started, so that people can get more facilities.


The government has also increased the insurance cover for each passenger to approximately Rs 6.25 lakh, which will strengthen the financial and health security during the journey. About 60,000 passengers will get the facility to travel by high-speed train between Mecca and Medina, which will make their journey fast and comfortable. Apart from this, real-time monitoring of passengers, grievance redressal system, better medical check-up and health facilities and better arrangements for accommodation and transportation in Saudi Arabia have also been made. Hotel like accommodation facilities are also being provided in Mecca.
