New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vice-captainRinku Singh starred with the bat and was omnipresent on the field as his side defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a Super Over to bag their second win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Sunday, April 27. Rinku slammed a brilliant knock of unbeaten 83 and took as many as four catches in the game to join the legendary Jacques Kallis in an elite list.

Rinku turned out to be KKR’s saviour after their stunning batting collapse at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The left-hander scored an unbeaten 83 to lift the visitors from 83/7 to a fighting total of 155/7 in 20 overs. He followed it up with an excellent display on the field, plucking four catches during LSG’s run chase to help KKR restrict the visitors to 155/8 and tie the game.

In the Super Over, Rinku once again combined with Rovman Powell to complete a brilliant relay catch to help Sunil Narine dismiss Aiden Markram on a duck and restrict LSG to 1/2. The KKR vice-captain then scored the winning runs for his side with a boundary on the first ball of the Super Over to hand his team a thrilling victory.

Rinku plucked the catches of Markram, Mukul Choudhary, George Linde and Himmat Singh to win the Player of the Match award. His all-round heroics in the game saw him achieve the rare feat of scoring a half-century and taking 4 or more catches in a match in the IPL. The KKR star became only the 4th player to achieve the feat, joining the likes of Kallis, Riyan Parag and Daryl Mitchell in an elite list.

Players with 50+ runs and 4+ field catches in an IPL match:

(53 runs, 4 catches) – Jacques Kallis (KKR) vs Deccan, Kolkata, 2011

(56* runs, 4 catches) – Riyan Parag (RR) vs RCB, Pune, 2022

(52 runs, 5 catches) – Daryl Mitchell (CSK) vs SRH, Chennai, 2024

(83* runs, 4 catches) – Rinku Singh (KKR) vs LSG, Lucknow, 2026*

LSG record lowest score in Super Over to suffer crushing defeat

Lucknow Super Giants were restricted to just 1 run in the Super Over, recording the lowest Super Over score in the IPL to suffer a crushing defeat against KKR on Sunday. With 7 required off the last ball in the normal time, Mohammed Shami hit a six against Kartik Tyagi to help LSG tie KKR’s total of 155 and take the game into the Super Over.

However, LSG’s decision to send Nicholas Pooran in the Super Over backfired. Pooran, who has been out of form in the IPL 2026, was dismissed on a first-ball duck by Narine before Markram too fell on a duck as LSG could manage only 1 run in their Super Over which lasted for three balls. KKR chased down 2 runs on the very first ball to secure their second win of the season.

KKR jumped to the 8th spot on the points table with five points from eight matches, while LSG remain at the bottom with four points in as many games.
