The 39th match of IPL 2026 was expected to be high scoring but it did not happen. This match was played between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 27 April at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The interesting thing is that in the 35th match on the same ground, Delhi had scored 264 runs but this time the story was completely opposite. Half of the DC team returned to the pavilion after scoring only 7 runs in just 3 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood together created all this destruction.

While in the last match, KL Rahul had scored a brilliant unbeaten 152 runs, in this match he walked away after scoring only 1 run. On the other hand, Nitish Rana, who had scored 91 runs in the last match, was out for just 1 run this time. Sahil Parakh, who was making his IPL debut, could not even open his account and returned to the pavilion on a duck. The result of all this was that Delhi Capitals made the smallest powerplay score in IPL history.

Bhuvaneshwar-Hazelwood looted the gathering

During this, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took three wickets, while Josh Hazlewood took two wickets. Bhuvneshwar’s victims were Sahil Parakh, Tristan Stubbs and captain Akshar Patel. Hazlewood made KL Rahul and Sameer Rizvi his victims. By the end of the powerplay, Hazlewood had also taken three wickets.

Lowest powerplay total in IPL (1-6 overs)

After this, now in the match between Delhi vs Bengaluru in Delhi, 6 wickets fell in the powerplay, due to which this record was equaled.
