New Delhi: If you also use LPG, then this news may blow your senses. The increasing tension in West Asia and problems in the global supply chain are now going to have a direct impact on your kitchen budget. If media reports are to be believed, there may be a huge jump in the prices of LPG cylinders from May 1. Oil companies review gas prices on the first of every month, and considering the current conditions, a price increase is considered almost certain.

‘Brake’ on new gas connection There is another bad news for gas consumers. Due to delay in imports from the Strait of Hormuz, there is huge pressure on domestic gas supply in India. In view of this, the Petroleum Ministry has taken a major decision and put a temporary ban on issuing new LPG connections. The government says that its first priority is to meet the needs of existing customers. That means no new gas connections will be given in the country for the next one month.

There is going to be a big change in the booking rules The government is preparing to crack down not only on prices but also on the method of booking. According to reports, permanent changes can be made in the rules of LPG booking. Under the new rules, now people living in urban areas will have to keep a gap of at least 25 days between booking two cylinders. Whereas for rural areas this limit can be fixed at 45 days. This may cause problems to those people whose gas consumption is high in their homes.

The havoc of black marketing in South India There is a huge shortage of commercial gas in big cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. Hotels and restaurants are not able to get enough cylinders, taking advantage of which some people are using domestic cylinders commercially. The administration is continuously conducting raids, but still black marketing of cylinders is at its peak in the market.
