Rajasthan Royals (RR) will compete against Punjab Kings (PBKS) who currently display strong performance during their match which marks the 40th game of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The match is scheduled for tonight at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on April 28.

Shreyas Iyer leads PFBS team which displays powerful performance and currently holds first place in the points table after winning six out of their seven matches. Their run chases have stood out this season, especially in the last game against Delhi Capitals, where they successfully chased a record 265.

RR holds fourth place in the standings because they have secured five victories through their eight games. The team enters this match after losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Team officials face additional problems because star batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi experienced an injury which makes his match status uncertain.

The Rajasthan Royals emerging star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi experienced an injury scare after he exited the game in discomfort following his record-setting century against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The 15-year-old showed signs of discomfort during his fielding duties when SRH began their innings. The physio checked on him before helping him leave the field. Sooryavanshi pursued an Ishan Kishan lofted shot but halted his movement to hold his right thigh. He experienced difficulty with movement and required assistance from the team physio which caused concern about a potential hamstring injury.

The initial visuals showed hamstring strain symptoms but later showed that the teenager experienced acute muscle cramps. The extreme heat conditions during Rajasthan's batting session made him fatigued after he batted for an extended period. RR batting coach Vikram Rathour provided a Sooryavanshi update after the match because he observed the player showed no serious health problems and the player seemed to be in good condition.

Rathour told reporters that the teenager felt some discomfort in his hamstring. The physios treated him, and he looked fine afterward. Rajasthan Royals will use Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as their player against Punjab Kings during today’s PBKS vs RR IPL 2026 match although he might play as an Impact Player after sustaining a minor injury.

Sooryavanshi has scored three half-centuries through his first 15 balls during IPL 2026 matches. On Saturday, he achieved his second-fastest century by an Indian player in IPL history. The top record belongs to him as well after his 35-ball hundred against Gujarat Titans last year.

Sooryavanshi has scored 357 runs in eight matches this IPL season at an average of 44.63 and a strike rate of 234.86. His batting performance exceeds that of Abhishek Sharma, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Prabhsimran Singh.
