Amazon India has announced the expansion of its Amazon Now ultra-fast delivery service to 100 cities across the country, significantly scaling up its reach beyond metros into tier-2 and tier-3 cities. The move is supported by a network of more than 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres (MFCs), designed to bring daily essentials closer to customer neighbourhoods for delivery within minutes.

What customers can order

Amazon Now offers a curated selection of thousands of everyday essentials, including groceries, fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen food, personal care items, fashion and beauty products, small appliances, baby products, pet supplies, and healthcare supplements. Customers can expect delivery speeds ranging from minutes for perishables to same-day and next-day for millions of other items available on Amazon.in.

The expansion will also enable more than 16,000 farmers to sell their produce directly to customers through sellers on Amazon Now. This integration of farmers into Amazon’s supply chain is expected to improve access to fresh produce while supporting local agricultural communities.

Harsh Goyal, vice president – Everyday Essentials, Amazon India, said: “Customers continue to enjoy Amazon Now, appreciating our delivery speed, value and selection — especially the quality of fresh produce sourced directly from farmers. Encouraged by this success, we have further accelerated our expansion plans and will scale Amazon Now to 100 cities, fuelled by a network of more than 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres.”

Cities added to the service include Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Meerut, Mysore, Panipat, Kochi, Amritsar, Mangalore, and Vizag, alongside existing metros Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, and Bengaluru.

Investment in India

Amazon Now’s rapid expansion is part of Amazon’s broader ₹2,800 crore (~USD 300 million) investment in India to strengthen associate safety, health, and financial wellbeing, while enhancing one of the country’s fastest and most reliable operations networks.

Amazon Now is powered by compact, technology-enabled micro-fulfilment centres strategically located near customer neighborhoods. These centres use advanced inventory systems to optimize product placement based on hyperlocal demand, ensuring ultra-fast delivery. Customers can check availability in their area by opening the Amazon.in app and looking for the ‘lightning’ Now icon on the top banner.
