The Mumbai Indians (MI) are gearing up to hit the field again in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, facing off against a confident Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, April 29. Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, MI finds themselves struggling at No. 9 on the points table, with only two wins and five losses from their seven matches. They’re eager to turn their fortunes around and reignite their campaign. 

On the flip side, SRH has made a strong comeback after a rocky start. After winning just one of their first four games, they’ve found their groove with four straight victories, currently sitting at No. 3 in the standings.

Out of the four matches played so far, teams chasing have clinched two wins, suggesting a fairly balanced but slightly chase-friendly trend. The surface has remained consistent throughout both innings, providing good bounce and pace, allowing batters to express themselves freely. However, the dew factor in the second innings can complicate things for bowlers, especially when it comes to defending totals. 

This season, the Mumbai Indians have had to frequently shuffle their squad due to injuries and inconsistent performances, and they’re still on the hunt for the right mix. Nevertheless, they boast a wealth of talent, with several international and Indian players who can change the game in an instant.

While MI has had the upper hand in their recent head-to-head matchups, winning four of the last five encounters, the current form leans in favor of SRH, giving them a better shot at winning this matchup.
