Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai is going through a tough time after the loss of his mother. His Afghanistan teammates, Mohammad Nabi and Karim Janat, took to social media to express their condolences and support during this difficult period.

At just 26 years old, Omarzai is part of the PBKS squad for IPL 2026, but he hasn't had the chance to step onto the field yet this season. The team hasn't made any official announcements about whether he'll be available for their upcoming match against the Rajasthan Royals.

The Punjab Kings are gearing up to face the Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday, April 28, in Mullanpur. As of now, it's unclear if Omarzai will be ready to play.

His availability for the RR clash is still uncertain

Given the circumstances, his participation will likely hinge on personal matters, and the team is expected to give him the space he needs during this time. The Punjab Kings have been performing exceptionally well this season, currently sitting at the top of the table with six wins out of seven matches. They have a solid lineup and are the only team that hasn't made any changes in IPL 2026 so far.

Omarzai made his IPL debut with the Gujarat Titans (GT) in 2024, where he played seven matches in his first season. He was later acquired by the Punjab Kings for INR 2.40 crore and participated in nine matches during IPL 2025, taking eight wickets.

Even though he hasn't played yet this season, he remains an important part of PBKS’ plans as a backup all-rounder, ready to step in for Marcus Stoinis, who hasn't been making much of an impact.
