Match Summary - Yesterday's IPL Match Between PBKS vs RR
Having asked to bat first by RR, PBKS got off to a reasonable start. Prabhsimran Singh scored 59 runs from 44 balls, and the innings received an early momentum through quick scoring from Priyansh Arya (29 from 11) as well as an innings from Cooper Connolly (30). However the show was stolen by the onslaught of Marcus Stoinis who scored an amazing 62* off just 22 balls(6 sixes and 4 fours). His power hitting propelled the team to 222/4. Yash Raj Punja was pick of the RR bowlers with 2 wickets while Archer and Burger got one each.
In reply, chasing a target of 223 Rajasthan Royals came out with clear intent and domination from powerplay. The innings was carried on by Yashasvi Jaiswal's 51 from 27 balls and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's onslaught of 43 from just 16 balls. The good start put PBKS on the backfoot, and despite the wickets taken by Yuzvendra Chahal (3/36), the RR middle order was steady as Riyan Parag chipped in with 29 while Donovan Ferreira (52) played a match winning knock and Shubham Dubey (31) took the game to conclusion as they reached 228/4 in 19.2 overs.
PBKS's bowlers too were not on the right track and conceded plenty of runs. While Arshdeep Singh was expensive (1/68) so was Lockie Ferguson (0/57). Even with one of the highest scores posted so far in the season, PBKS's couldn't defend their total which was a concern for their bowling attack. They were finally tasted their first loss of IPL 2026, whereas RR regained its form after being disappointed in recent games.
