New Delhi: Chelsea forward Mykhailo Mudryk has filed an appeal at Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against his four-year ban for doping.
England’s Football Association (FA) barred him for violation of anti-doping rule in June last year after his urine test result founded traces of a prohibited substance.
It was reported that meldonium was found on a sample taken in 2024, after which Mudryk said he claimed to be in “complete shock” as he had neve knowingly taken a banned substance.
Having joined the Blues in January 2023 for a reported initial fee of $81.83 million, the the Ukrainian was provisionally suspended in December 2024 and hasn’t played since.
“CAS confirms it has received an appeal by Mykhailo Mudryk against the FA, filed on 25 February 2026,” it said in a statement to the BBC and the Times.
“The parties are currently exchanging written submissions, and a hearing is yet to be scheduled.”
The English FA didn’t wish to comment on the matter further as the case against the 25-year-old is ongoing.
Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada has been handed a 13-match ban for punching an opponent during their 1-0 derby defeat to Huesca in the Spanish second division.
Andrada was red carded in the 99th minute but instead of leaving the pitch he punched Huesca captain Jorge Pulido in the face, leading to a brawl.
The RFEF’s disciplinary committee decided that the 35-year-old’s action warranted a 12-match ban along with an automatic one-game suspension for the red card.
Huesca keeper Dani Jimenez was suspended for four matches for punching Andrada during the melee for which he was sent off, while Zaragoza’s Dani Tasende was placed under a two-match suspension oer and above the red card he recived for kicking an opponent in the leg.
