New Delhi: Opener Ryan Rickelton blazed away to the quickest century by a Mumbai Indians batter as Sunrisers Hyderabad were set a 244-run target in an IPL 2026 clash on Wednesday.
The left hander reached triple figures, his maiden century in IPL, in 44 balls at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, bettering the 45-ball mark of Tilak Varma and Sanath Jayasuriya.
Once MI won the toss and opted to bat Rickleton smashed an unbeaten 123 off 55 balls with the help of 10 boundaries and eight sixes, putting on a 93-run stand for the first wicket with Will Jacks (46).
Courtesy of the 29-year-old Rickelton’s efforts, Mumbai posted their highest total so far.
Once Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav (5) departed in quick succession and Naman Dhir (22) also didnt last long, skipper Hardik Pandya (31) delivered for the home side.
A knock that completely won over the Wankhede tonight 🥹💙

South African Rickelton not only provided the top-order thrust they have missed for the major part of the ongoing tournament but also carried his bat through their innings, a rare feat in T20 cricket/
Together with Jacks, keeper-batter Rickleton put on 78 in the powerplay overs to set up Mumbai for a big total.
All SRH bowlers proved expensive, with Praful Hinge (2/54) being the most successful in terms of wickets.
Mumbai have decided to wear black armbands during the match due to the untimely passing of a daughter of one of their support staff members.
