A major incident took place late Thursday night in Pune, Maharashtra, which created a stir in the area. Gas leaked in a closed water treatment plant here, due to which 22 local people and two fire brigade personnel who came to rescue them had breathing problems. All 24 injured are admitted to the hospital and their treatment is ongoing. The incident took place in Kondhwa area of Pune.
According to fire officials, this gas has leaked from the warehouse of a closed water treatment plant in Gangadham area of Kondhwa. At around 1 o’clock in the night, gas leaked from an old tank filled with chlorine. As soon as the gas spread in the area, people started having trouble breathing. There was a commotion in the area. People got scared and called the police and fire brigade and gave complete information.
As soon as information about the leakage was received, the fire brigade and police personnel reached the spot with their team. The fire officer said that as soon as we arrived, we started relief work. With the help of safety equipment, our personnel closed the leaking tank and after some struggle brought the situation under control. The health of many people has also deteriorated. A total of 22 local residents and two fire employees had difficulty breathing, due to which all have been admitted to the hospital.
Officials said that the condition of all the affected people is now out of danger. He is under observation at Sassoon General Hospital. According to the information, the person who previously ran this plant had removed the plant but the chlorine tank remained there. The tank was not being maintained. Investigation revealed that due to this negligence there was leakage in the tank and this accident occurred.
