News India Live, Digital Desk: Indian Railways has created a new history today. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced the much awaited Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express Flagged off. This train will not only connect Kashmir Valley with Jammu, but is also a milestone towards establishing direct rail connectivity with the rest of India through the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL). This train passing through the world’s highest railway bridge built on the Chenab River will be no less than a thrill for the passengers.


Key Features of Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat


Marvel of Engineering: This train will pass through challenging areas like Chenab Bridge and Anji Khad. The height of Chenab Bridge is more than the Eiffel Tower of Paris.


Reduction in travel time: As compared to the 5-6 hours it takes to go from Jammu to Srinagar by road, Vande Bharat covers this distance by approx. 3.5 to 4 hours I will complete it.


Armor Technology: In terms of safety, this train is fitted with ‘KAVACH’ anti-collision system, which makes it safe in hilly areas.


Promotion of tourism: Through the large ‘Vistadome’ like windows, passengers will be able to see a wonderful view of the beautiful valleys, snow clad mountains and tunnels of Kashmir.


Route & Schedule


Main Station: Jammu Tawi, Udhampur, Banihal, Qazigund, and Srinagar.


Operation: This train is likely to run 6 days a week.


Train Timings: It will leave from Jammu in the morning and reach Srinagar by afternoon and will return in the evening.


Railway Minister’s address: “Dream rail link completed”


During the inauguration, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the dream of connecting Kashmir with Kanyakumari is now becoming a reality. He said that this train has been specially designed for cold areas, with heating system and the ability to run smoothly even during snowfall.

Comfortable journey: 180 degree swivel seats in executive and chair car category.


Indigenous Technology: This train, completely manufactured in India, is a great example of ‘Make in India’.


Connectivity: Now passengers coming from Delhi to Jammu via Rajdhani or Vande Bharat will be able to catch this train directly to Srinagar.
