Delhi-NCR Weather Update: Thursday afternoon brought such a change in Delhi-NCR, which gave a sigh of relief to the people struggling with the scorching heat. While the scorching sun and humidity had made people miserable till morning, by afternoon, dark clouds had taken up residence in the sky. Within no time, strong storm, rain and hailstorm started in many areas, making the day look like night.
The weather changed very rapidly in many parts of Delhi-NCR, especially Noida and Greater Noida. First there was a strong dust storm, due to which visibility reduced significantly. The rains that started after this cooled the atmosphere and the effect of heat reduced to a great extent. In the capital Delhi too, rain with strong winds and hailstorm were seen in some areas. Due to dark clouds, there was darkness during the day, which completely changed the weather.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert of storm, rain and hailstorm for Delhi-NCR. By department:
Heavy rain accompanied by heavy hailstorm occurred in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad. People walking on the roads were seen running towards safe places to escape the suddenly falling large hailstones.
According to local people:
This situation shows that this change in weather brought relief as well as loss.
This rain has brought relief to the people after the continuous scorching heat. A drop in temperature of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius has been recorded. The Meteorological Department estimates that the temperature may drop further on Friday, due to which the weather will remain more pleasant.
According to weather experts, such sudden weather changes are seen due to the collision of western disturbances and local hot winds. Such activities are common during the peak of summer, but their impact is more felt with strong winds and hailstorms.
This weather change in Delhi-NCR has brought both relief and challenges. While on one hand people have got relief from the heat, on the other hand strong storm and hailstorm have also caused damage. In such a situation, people need to pay attention to the warnings of the Meteorological Department and remain alert, because the weather may take a similar turn in the coming days.
