Delhi. Will come on a three-day state visit to India on May 5. This visit of To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, is taking place on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A high-level delegation of several ministers and senior officials of the Government of Vietnam is also accompanying him. Apart from this, a strong business delegation will also come to India along with the President of Vietnam.

This will be To Lam’s first state visit to India after being elected President of Vietnam in April this year. President Tom Lam will be formally welcomed in the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhavan on 6 May. Prime Minister Modi will have wide-ranging discussions with President Tol Lam on all aspects of bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues that are of mutual interest. President Draupadi Murmu will hold a meeting with President Tol Lam.

Other Indian dignitaries are also expected to meet Mr Tol Lam. Mr To Lam will also visit Bodh Gaya and Mumbai during his visit to India. India and Vietnam share historical and civilizational ties, which have continuously deepened over the years.

The visit of President To Lam coincides with the special occasion when both the countries are celebrating 10 years of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership agreed upon during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Vietnam in 2016. It is expected that this dialogue between the leaders will give new impetus to strong bilateral relations and pave new avenues of cooperation between India and Vietnam.
