Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) badly in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Thursday (April 30). GT won the toss and bowled first and bowled out RCB for 155 runs and then achieved this target easily by losing 6 wickets in 15.5 overs. This was the third defeat of defending champion RCB this season. In these three matches, RCB had to face defeat while defending the total. However, team captain Rajat Patidar is not worried about bowling.

After the crushing defeat against GT, Patidar said that the way we prolonged the match is a positive sign. Patidar was pointing out that GT had scored 122 runs in 11 overs. Despite this, RCB allowed GT to win in the 16th over. However, Patidar seemed unaware that RCB has been able to win only 1 out of 4 matches this season while defending the total. RCB got this victory against Chennai Super Kings, in which it scored a huge score of 250 runs.

Questions raised on Patidar’s decisions

When RCB’s innings fell apart, it fielded Venkatesh Iyer as an impact player. However, this bet also failed. Venkatesh could score only 12 runs after playing 15 balls. He could neither survive nor play his shots openly. After this, Patidar did not bowl to Krunal Pandya during GT’s run chase. Josh Hazlewood gave away 55 runs in 4 overs, while Suyyash Sharma gave away 44 runs in 3.5 overs. Despite this, Patidar did not use Krunal, on which questions are being raised.

How was the match?

In this match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, when invited to bat first, RCB had scored 79 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in 7.3 overs. After this Patidar became the victim of a controversial catch. As soon as he was out, RCB’s innings faltered. Within no time his score became 126/8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar scored 15 runs in 15 balls and took RCB to a respectable score but the stormy innings of Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler proved it to be dwarf.

GT captain Gill scored 43 runs in 18 balls with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes. Whereas Butler scored 39 runs in 19 balls, hitting 2 fours and 4 sixes. After the dismissal of these two, GT’s team looked to be in a bit of trouble but Rahul Tewatia took them to the threshold of victory by scoring unbeaten 27 runs in 17 balls.
