The Delhi government will inaugurate ‘Jan Sunwai Camps’ across all District Offices starting May 2, providing a platform for citizens to address ration card grievances directly, an official statement said on Thursday.
These camps will operate every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, allowing residents to raise issues concerning the issuance, corrections, eligibility, and distribution of ration cards.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has directed authorities to prioritize ration card cases, particularly where citizens believe their cards have been wrongly stopped. “They can apply and appear at these camps for immediate restoration and resolution,” the statement said.
The initiative aims to reinforce the Public Distribution System (PDS) by offering prompt and transparent assistance. Residents encountering difficulties with their ration cards are encouraged to visit their nearest District Office during the specified hours to submit applications or complaints and receive on-the-spot support from officials.
Minister for Food & Supplies, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, described the program as transformative. “We are bridging the gap between citizens and services by bringing grievance redressal to their doorstep. No eligible family will be denied their rightful entitlements under the PDS,” he said. He also urged, “I urge all eligible citizens to actively participate in these camps and experience the speed and efficiency of our responsive administration.”
The Department has prepared dedicated teams trained for immediate verification and resolution. “Grievances received will be tracked digitally for follow-up, promoting accountability and building lasting public trust in government services,” the statement added.
