The staggering LIV Golf contract Bryson DeChambeau signed to abandon the PGA Tour could be the last deal he signs with the Saudi-backed tour. The two-time US Open champion was one of the first players to make the jump to LIV in 2022 when signing a reported £100million deal.

However, four years on since Saudi Arabia's venture into professional golf, the Public Investment Fund are set to pull their funding with the series' future now unclear. The 32-year-old has aired his grievances with LIV in recent weeks regarding course conditions and a format change he "didn't sign up for". Whether DeChambeau makes a return to the PGA Tour remains to be seen but should he do so, he will with a heftier bank balance than what he left with. Express Sport takes a deep dive into the American golfer's net worth and his financial moves...

DeChambeau's net worth and LIV Golf contract

According to Forbes, DeChambeau's considerable net worth sits at approximately £33million ($44m). Despite his status as a multi-millionaire during his time on the PGA Tour, it was the reported guaranteed figure of £100m to join LIV that signficantly bolstered his wealth.

The California-born golfer admitted he received a sizeable payment through his deal but stopped short of revealing numbers. At the time, he said: "I'm not gonna say the details. I mean, for what's reported, it's somewhat close. It's a four-and-a-half year deal, I can definitely tell you that and a lot of it was up front, which is great."

'Broke' comment

Despite the life-changing switch to LIV, DeChambeau turned heads a couple of years ago by suggesting he was "broke". Before much furore took hold of the situation, the Crushers GC captain confirmed that most of his wealth had been invested into different projects, including real estate, his charity foundation and a multi-sport complex. He said: "What's cool about it though is that I've already put it [the money] in places that make sense.

"Whether it's my foundation, or real estate, being able to build a multi-sport complex, or taking care of my family, taking care of what we've got going with our content creation Regecy, numerous other things too. So, it's already moved. I'm again broke."

LIV loyalty

Prior to the speculation surrounding the future of LIV and his criticism of certain aspects of the circuit, DeChambeau had publicly committed himself to the tour and revealed plans to extend his contract. In June, he said: "We're looking to negotiate end of this year and I'm very excited. They see the value in me, I see the value in what they can provide and I believe we'll come to some sort of resolution on that.

"I'm super excited for the future. LIV's not going anywhere. He [LIV chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan] has been steadfast in his belief on team golf and whether everybody believes it or not, I believe it's a viable option."

However, what happens now after Thursday's LIV Golf bombshell remains to be seen.
