Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is gearing up to begin shooting for his ambitious next project, Pralay, in August 2026. The large-scale post-apocalyptic thriller is firmly on track, putting to rest recent rumours suggesting delays due to creative differences.
Following the massive success of the Dhurandhar franchise, anticipation is high for Singh’s next outing. The actor has already signed on for Pralay, directed by Jay Mehta. While some reports hinted at disagreements between the actor and the filmmaker, sources close to the production have dismissed such claims, confirming that the project is progressing smoothly.
According to insiders, Singh and Mehta have been in regular discussions, with the script now finalised. The film has entered its pre-production phase, with the team preparing for a visually grand cinematic experience. “All reports about uncertainty are baseless. The film is on schedule and will begin shooting in August 2026,” a source said.
Pralay is envisioned as a high-budget, VFX-driven action thriller set in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world. The film is expected to bring a fresh take on the zombie genre in Hindi cinema, a space that remains largely unexplored at this scale. Mehta has reportedly been developing the project for over a year, with the budget estimated at around Rs 300 crore.
The story has been written by Jay Mehta along with Vishal Kapoor, known for their work on Lootere. The film is being produced by Hansal Mehta under True Story Films, along with Ranveer Singh’s banner Ma Kasam Films, in collaboration with Applause Entertainment.
Singh is said to be particularly excited about exploring a completely new genre with Pralay, and will sport a drastically different look for the role. At present, the actor has not signed any other projects, though he is reportedly in talks with Aditya Dhar for another film, which may begin after Pralay wraps up.
With its scale, genre, and star power, Pralay is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Bollywood films in the coming years.
