KL Rahul has made it clear that individual milestones hold little value without team success, stating that his ultimate goal is to match MS Dhoni’s record of five IPL titles.

The Delhi Capitals opener recently surpassed Dhoni on the IPL’s all-time run-scorers list but brushed aside the achievement, emphasising his focus on winning trophies.

“I didn’t even realise I had gone past Mahi bhai,” Rahul said. “Personal milestones are nice—they tell you you’re on the right track—but what really matters is winning titles. I’d love to win as many IPL trophies as MS Dhoni.”

Reiterating his team-first mindset, Rahul added that being part of successful teams has always been his biggest ambition. “Cricket is a team game. At the end of the day, you want to lift trophies and contribute to winning sides,” he said.

Rahul also spoke about his strong performances at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, particularly against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He credited his success at the venue to an emotional connection with his home ground.

“I’ve often wondered if there’s a switch that turns on when I play against RCB, but I don’t have a clear answer,” he said. “Chinnaswamy is special—it’s where I grew up playing. Something just clicks for me there.”

He added that the comfort isn’t limited to IPL matches. “It’s not just against RCB—I’ve had good outings in international games there too. Some grounds just give you that confidence and feeling that you’ll perform well,” Rahul said.
