Basketball has changed dramatically over the last several years. Today, the three-point shot has become a central part of the game while in the past possessions more often ended with the ball going to the center near the rim. Much of that evolution is tied to the Golden State Warriors dynasty led by Steve Kerr.
The former Chicago Bulls player, an elite shooter during his career, turned that skill into a true basketball philosophy once he became a coach.
Kerr himself, in a recent interview, explained what he would change about modern basketball.
The nine-time NBA champion then added:
Kerr’s vision goes in the opposite direction of those who have pushed for a four-point line. Responding to his comments was also his former Bulls coach, Phil Jackson who spoke publicly on social media after a long absence.
For now, it remains an interesting thought experiment. But one thing is clear: when voices like Steve Kerr and Phil Jackson speak, it’s always worth listening.
