New Delhi: A very big and relief news is coming for mobile users. If you too were worried because of the 28 day recharge plan every month and you felt that the companies were defrauding you, then now your tension is going to go away. The long-running debate regarding the validity of mobile recharge in the country has now reached the corridors of the government and the Center has taken a strict stand on it.

Pressure of 30 days validity on companies

According to latest reports, the central government is now pressurizing telecom companies to prominently offer plans with full validity of 30 days instead of 28 days. The government wants to stop misleading customers. Recently, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha raised this issue very strongly in Parliament. He directly said that injustice is being done to the users through the existing recharge plans.

Question on data rollover and extra recharge

MP Raghav Chadha also raised serious questions on the use of data. He says that if a user gets 2GB data daily and is able to spend only 1.5GB, then the remaining 500MB data goes waste at the end of the day. He demanded that this leftover data should be added to the next day’s quota, called ‘data rollover’. With this, customers will get full recovery of every penny paid by them.

The hassle of recharging 13 times a year will end

Raghav Chadha has suggested to completely stop the 28 day recharge cycle. Their argument is that in a cycle of 28 days, users have to recharge 13 times in a year instead of 12, which is directly an additional burden on the common man’s pocket. Along with this, he placed another big demand that even after the recharge is over, basic facilities like incoming calls and SMS should not be stopped for at least one year. He has advocated giving a longer grace period for deactivation.

Strictness of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has also taken strict cognizance of this serious issue. He has given clear instructions to telecom companies to promote plans with validity of 30 days more in their portfolio and to give clear information about it to the customers. Although TRAI has already made it mandatory to provide a 30-day option, companies often keep these plans hidden or deliberately sell them at a higher price. Now after the strictness of the government, companies may have to give up their cunningness.

What will be the benefit to the customers?

If this initiative of the government is fully implemented, then mobile users will not need to remember the recharge date again and again. 30 days validity means you have to recharge on the same fixed date every month. This will not only increase transparency but will also save customers thousands of rupees annually. Also, with facilities like data rollover, internet usage will become more affordable.
