Brooklyn Beckham and wife Nicola Peltz appeared to snub David Beckham's birthday as their family rift continues. The England and Manchester United icon turned 51 on Saturday with a host of famous faces and former teammates moving to send their best wishes.

It comes after his son's explosive statement earlier this year where he expressed his desire not to reconcile with his parents. Victoria Beckham led the tributes and well-wishes for her husband while their two other sons Cruz and Romeo, as well as daughter, Harper, wished their father happy birthday.

The family has been in turmoil for more than year after the fallout between Brooklyn and Nicola. Earlier this year, Brooklyn published a lengthy statement slamming his family, especially his mum's alleged behaviour at his and Nicola's wedding. Despite the ongoing rift, messages streamed in with the Spice Girl lifting the curtain into their celebrations.

'Posh Spice' shared a series of pictures on her social media as Beckham prepared to turn 51 with a meal on his 'birthday eve' with loved ones. She published some of her favourite memories with her husband, who she married in 1999, including a gaffe sharing his hair when the blade fell off mid-shave, while, the 52-year-old left little to the imagination when she shared pictures of David getting onto a boat in nothing but red budgie smugglers.

She shared a video of one of the presents that the former Three Lions captain received, where he unboxed six chickens. It followed on from her message which read: "You are our world, our everything. We love you so much!!! Happy birthday to the best husband, daddy, son, brother, and friend. To the kindest most generous soul. We will spoil you all day!!!! Nobody deserves it more than you."

Speaking in April, Victoria reiterated that she and David "always tried to be the best parents". She said: "I think that we've always - we love our children so much. We've always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we've been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we've ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children."

Romeo posted a photograph of the two together with the caption: "Happy birthday dad, love you so much, thank u for everything you do." This was followed by another post of the pair together which said "my best mate". Cruz and Harper both posted stories of their own too, the Beckham's youngest's message was particularly heartfelt.

She said: "Happy birthday to the best daddy in the whole world. I honestly could never ask for a better role model too. You are always here for me and I will always be here for you too anything anywhere. Have the best day ever, you deserve everything."

On the football pitch, it was a particularly frustrating day as the Class of 92-owned Salford City missed out on automatic promotion on the final day of the League Two season. They couldn't manage a third-placed finish, which would have guided them to the third tier for the first time in their history.

There would be further action on David's birthday with Inter Miami in action against Orlando SC in an MLS derby match. The reigning champions could move top with a win but face a significant goal difference swing to overhaul Nashville SC at the summit.
